The Annual Homeplace Board Heifer Sale
The sale was held August 28, 2010, at Southeast Mississippi Livestock in Hattiesburg, MS.  Auctioneering for the sale was Kirk Davis.  Prices were better than last year and averaged over $1200 per head.  It was a full house!  Almost 100 buyers attended the sale, along with the consigners, and many spectators.  Steak dinners were prepared by the Cafe.  Pictures below.

Hattiesburg Cattleman Attends National Industry Leadership Orientation

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (April 7,  2010) – Joe Johnson, manager of Southeast Mississippi Livestock Auction in Hattiesburg, and a member of the board of directors of the Mississippi Beef Council (MBC), recently attended a leadership orientation sponsored by the Federation of State Beef Councils, a division of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), headquartered here. 

Johnson (far right) joined other cattle industry leaders from around the country for updates on global and domestic beef demand, market conditions and beef checkoff programs, which are funded by cattle producers and importers, and support beef research, education and promotion efforts. The orientation also covered the organizational responsibilities of volunteer industry leaders who serve on beef council boards. Johnson represents the Mississippi Livestock Marketing Association on the MBC board.

45th Annual Stockholders Meeting

This year's stockholder meeting was held April 29, 2010.  It was a great success!  Over 60 stockholders attended and stayed for refreshments afterwards. 

This year's special speaker was Todd Johnson, Vice President, Owner/Member Services for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association.  We were very honored to hear him speak to our cattleman about the beef checkoff program.  He was very cordial, informative, and knowledgable with the information that he provided.  For more information regarding the beef checkoff, go to www.beefusa.org.  Thank you, Mr. Johnson, for your part in making this meeting so successful!

We were also honored by having Mr. Sammy Blossom attend.  Sammy Blossom is the Executive Director of the Mississippi Beef Council.  He also provided us with a few of the photos you will see below.  We thank you, Mr. Blossom!

    Dr. Richard Gingles left our Board of Directors.  He represented Harrison County since 2003.
